After the first workstation installation (which may be the server itself), you need to define the user groups that are permitted to access TIMS3. These are the primary groups that users belong to, as configured in the user profiles of the Windows domain controller.
When launching the TIMS3 Data Manager for the first time, make sure that you are logged in with the same name used when you installed the TIMS3 server software. This user name is automatically added to the TIMS3 User Privilege Levels table with the TIMS3 Manager user class. This is required to allow you to access privileged functions within TIMS3 prior to defining any other user to be a TIMS3 administrator. TIMS3 will allow you to define new groups that are permitted to access TIMS3, as well as specific access privileges.
From the TIMS3 Data Manager menu, click the Maintenance button, and when the list of tables appear, double click on the Groups table. This displays a form where you can define the group names to be recognized by TIMS3, together with an appropriate description.

Note: You will find the group "Domain Users" is already entered. This allows most users to access TIMS3 with a User/Operator privilege level. Do not remove this group until you have added other groups and tested user access to the database.
If you wish to assign a user other than the Windows NT Administrator user to have system management privileges within TIMS3, you can do this through the Security Menu option in the TIMS3 Data Manager.

After selecting the User Privilege Levels option, you will see a form that allows you to enter additional user names together with their User Class. The example below shows that a user "BRENTJ" will have the TIMS3 Manager privileges. You may also add additional User Groups to your access priveleges other than the default one already assigned to you so that you will have access to the information prepared by any individual in that group. Adding a user group may be achieved by simply selecting the desired group from the list box provided. In the example below, BRENTJ has access to the 'dept_16', and 'web proxy' user groups in addition to the 'domain users' group which was assigned to him automatically.

Any other user accessing the TIMS3 application will have a record automatically inserted into this table with a default User Class of User/Operator. Note that these users will still need to have their primary group authorized in the TIMS3 Groups table (see the previous section).
You can deny individual users access to TIMS3 by adding them to this database with the user class of "None".
