*Please note that Server Installation should be completed before Client Installation

When selecting the Client Setup, you will be presented with the terms of the User License Agreement, which you must 'Accept' to proceed with the installation. For the purposes of a demo download from the TIMS3 Web site please leave this License Number blank.

The setup will then display a configuration screen that automatically picks up the path of the needed files.

The setup will ask you about the file server and database server locations. It will automatically pick up the location of the file server but not database server.

Select new directory if needed for the Client components.

TIMS Client automatically defaults to the proper program group - TIMS Client Access.

The system will install any needed files including dll system files to ensure proper operating system support for the software. Recommended that if the files are not newer than the currently installed system file that you select "Yes" or "Yes to All".

When the client installation is complete, you will see in the registry settings that the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Giffels Associates Limited\TIMS Client Access\3.0\TIMS Options' key called APPL_DSN is set to "MS Access" Server.

Open up TIMS3 Data Manager, on the main menu the Administration and Security Menus should be visible. If they are not, then you are not logged in as an administrator on the system. In this case please login under the administrator account to the server or workstation.
Open up the Security Menu, User Privilege Levels. Scroll through the list to see if your regular username is in the list. The three system default accounts are the "Administrator", "System", and "Timsuser" accounts. If your regular user account is not on this list, then you must create it.
Press the
button at bottom, enter in your login name in the User Name section,
and enter the User Class as TIMS Manager, User Groups should be
'Domain Users' (and any others you would like). Check all the boxes
to allow your profile to have all the user privileges. Save this and
exit out of TIMS3 Data Manager.
Login as your own account and start up Project Navigator with TIMS3 Manager Capability. Perform some of the easy exercises in the TIMS3 User Guide to familiarize yourself on the functionality of TIMS3.
The next setup window you will see is for the database connection using the Microsoft Access ODBC driver. Here, you specify the location of the TIMS3 database by selecting the network drive that is mapped to the shared server directory containing the timsdata.mdb file. This share should have been created using Windows Explorer after installing the TIMS Server software.
