There are several ways for you to open a document using the corresponding (i.e. registered) application:
Double-click on the document icon
Point to the document icon and select File / Open
from the pull-down menu
Point to the document icon and press the Ctrl-O keys.
If the document has not already been transferred to the local workstation then TIMS3 will automatically check it out (for modification) before launching the application. In addition, graphics files will have their associated reference or XREF files automatically copied out for review.

Press the Yes button to check out the file to allow you to modify the document in the corresponding application, or press the No button to copy out the document for viewing purposes only.
If the file was previously checked out, you will be asked to confirm that you want to open the file. If you press the Yes button, the corresponding application will be launched to allow editing of the file. Any associated reference or XREF files will be locally updated if the server version is more up to date.
If the Project Navigator is in the Database View, your privilege to access this file is determined by the ownership of the document record and the access rules set up for the TIMS3 system by the administrator. If the Project Navigator is in File List View, the database will be scanned to find the first record in the current project with fields that match the filename and extension of the highlighted document. If a record is found it will be used to determine your privilege to open the document. If no associated document record can be found, then no database privilege check is available to determine the access rights for this document. In this case, your current logins NT domain privileges will be used to determine the privileges required for opening the file.
