New File

The Newfile option allows you to select a new MicroStation document for editing. This option displays the standard Project Navigator. If required, you can switch to another project or sub-project by clicking on a folder in the project listing. If enabled, you may also switch between a file view listing or a document view listing.

As before, when you double-click on a MicroStation document that has not yet been checked out, the file will be checked out and the associated reference files will be checked or copied out before it is opened by the MicroStation session. If the file is already checked out to your workstation, a double click will ensure all reference files are up-to-date and then MicroStation is launched for editing.

Note that you are only able to double-click on a MicroStation document or file. The right-click control to initiate a file transfer operation is disabled when the Project Navigator is launched from the TIMS3 Toolset in MicroStation.

If you select the New File option, and do not double-click to edit a new file and try to exit MicroStation, the right click control on files and documents will still be disabled. To enable this control, select View - User Mode from the pull-down menu.
