Secured TIMS with the SQL Server Option

SQL Instances

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Run update script (Upv4.x.x.sql). This should update the TIMS database on SQL server.

  2. By default, the timsuser password is set to TIMS. Change timsuser password to something else so that the old versions of project navigator cannot login to this database.

  3. Copy the new Project Navigator to your client test machine. The old version can be found in: (C:\program files\tims client access\) directory.

  4. Open Project Navigator. During the first run, you should get the Initializing window (see fig.). Please enter the default database name of SQL Server.

5. Login to TIMS3 with default password "TIMS". The username and password will be stored therefore simple click OK for future logins. Check Auto Login to skip the login prompt.

6. Open the site settings in TOOLS menu. Create a site record for this site if not available. Check 'SecureDB' checkbox, update DB servername with your connect and remove the password and leave PWD=; (see fig.)

7. Add new users.

How to Add New/Edit Users

For TIMS Administrator:

  1. Click Site Setting in TOOLS menu

  2. Click Users Tab

  3. Select the user and change the password (see fig.)

4. Click Apply to save changes

5. Click Grant/Revoke button to apply the changes to the TIMS3 SQL Server 7 Database. In Addition, this will create the user profile on TIMS3 SQL Server 7 database.

6. To add new users, click NEW button, enter user info and then click Apply button to save the changes. Once the user is created you can create the user profile on TIMS3 SQL Server 7 database by clicking the Grant/Revoke button.

7. To delete a user, first select the user want to delete and then press DELETE button.

For TIMS Users:

  1. Click change Password in TOOLS Menu

  2. Type the new password and click OK

3. A confirmation message will verify this action.
